Dragon, Chimera

The second set of animals in my zoo (see earlier post).

I was having a bit of trouble trying to make the chimera's body different from the griffin's since they're both based on a big cat build. So I took a break and while viewing impossibly cute videos of welsh corgis on youtube, a stroke of genius hit...
I cut the snake head tail off to make it appear even more like a corgi, and also i didnt feel like drawing another snake head since I'm already doing a naga concept.

For the dragon, I didnt want to make it look too menacing. I like how hippos and rhinos, bears and crocs can all look really peaceful and lazy but can also be very ferocious. And also I gave it chameleon eyes just to make it look even more docile and goofy.

Again, the images are posted in the order I drew them, so you can see how the designs evolved.

**NOTE: i'm also editing my blog template right now so if something looks messed up, my apologies

Medieval Zoo

I've had this idea to do a zoo set in the middle ages for a while. I wrote down a couple of mythical animals that I would like to flesh out and the first two are the Naga and Griffin. A Naga comes from Buddhist (and Hindu?)lore and is a snake-like creature that can have multiple heads. And a Griffin is a creature with an eagle's head and lion's body.

I put the pictures in the order I drew them, I started warming up my drawing hand and becoming more creative (at least I think) nearer to the end.

Drawing beaks is fun!

Good God it's June!

Time to get this blog rolling again, even if it is just with random doodles.

Did anyone catch Zach Morris on Jimmy Fallon?! I sure didnt, I found out about it on youtube. I can't stand Fallon, always stealing focus with his trademark 'breaking character' facial grins.
But other than Fallon, the interview is a heap of nostalgic awesome! Zach's trademark flippery hair, retro clothes (the oversized shirts and tight jeans), ten pound cell phone and eyebrow-heavy expressions make me realize how old I feel seeing as how I used to watch this when I was 10 >_> Yet he looks like he hasnt aged at all! Granted he does look like he's caking on the makeup here.

1st page of sketches are from the interview, 2nd page of sketches are just some random people I drew.

The never-ending bus strike

So there's this bus strike thats been on in O-town since Dec.10 and its driving me crazy bc I can't buy groceries, no one messes with my food!! The union rejected the offer last week so it'll probably be another 3 weeks at the soonest before the buses come back.

If it were possible I'd ride a giant siberian husky named Lupin to work. And when its dark his eyes would glow like high beams...

This sketch took about 10 minutes and the final image is the result of a mix of not knowing what I'm doing in painter and photoshop.
